Nieuwe oosterse film!

Mijn broer Marten wees me op een nieuwe trailer op het internet.
Het is de nieuwe oosterse vechtkunstfilm van Zhang Yimou (of Yimou Zhang, dat weet ik nooit met die namen), de regisseur van de films Hero en House of Flying Daggers. Dit zijn twee van de mooiste films die ik ooit gezien heb. En ik bedoel hier met mooi echt het uiterlijk van de film: de kostuums, de gevechten die lijken op ballet, de prachtige kleuren van de omgeving, de opbouw van de beelden en de elegante bewegingen van de acteurs: deze films bevatten een schoonheid die mist in veel westerse films. Een schoonheid die het hart aanspreekt. Volgens John Eldredge zijn schoonheid en pijn de twee dingen die doordringen tot het menselijk hart. Ik kan dat wel invoelen. Schoonheid is niet wetenschappelijk te beschrijven, het ontroert ons, het doet iets met ons. Het herinnert ons ergens aan. Was wat God geschapen had ooit niet "zeer goed"?
Het verhaal is in deze films duidelijk anders dan in typische hollywoodfilms. Ook het 'happy end' ontbreekt vaak. Hero had een erg interessante verhaalstructuur en een verrassend einde. Het verhaal van House of Flying Daggers deed mij wat minder.
Nu dus het nieuws dat Zhang Yimou in China een nieuwe vechtkunstfilm heeft gemaakt. Hier is de officiële website van Curse of the Golden Flower, en een andere Trailer.
En het lijkt erop alsof het hem weer gelukt is. De beelden zijn gewoon mooi. Heel andere kleurstellingen dan in zijn eerste twee films (dit lijkt te gaan voor een contrast tussen goudkleurige stoffen en zwart). En zijn dat ninja's? Cool....

Its the new martial artsmovie by Zhang Yimou (or Yimou Zhang, I never know with those names), the director of Hero and House of Flying Daggers. These are two of the most beautifull movies I've ever seen. And with beautifull I mean the appearance of the movie: the constumes, the fights that resemble ballet, the colors of the surroundings, the way the images are set up and the elegant movements of the actors: these movies show a beauty missing in a lot of western films. A beauty that speaks to the heart. According to John Eldredge beauty and pain are the two things that reacht to the human heart. I think I know what he means. Beauty is not something that can be described scientifcally, it moves us, it does something to us. It reminds us of something. Wasn't Gods creation once 'very good'?
The story in these movies is often clearly different compared with typical hollywoodmovies and there often is no 'happy end'. Hero had a very interesting storystructure and a surprising climax. The story of House of Flying Daggers meant less to me.

And it seems he didiit again. The images are just beautifull. The colors are very different than those in his first two movies (this one has more of a contrast between golden fabrics and black). En are those ninja's? Cool... ]
