serieuze en minder serieuze filmtrailers...

Nu door naar de films...
De eerste trailer waar ik jullie aandacht op wil vestigen is die voor de film Arthur and the Invisibles. Een kinderfilm van Luc Besson (regisseur van The Fifth Element) waarin echte film en computeranimatie worden gecombineerd. De humor in de trailer is leuk en de animatie ziet er goed uit. De hoofdpersoon krimpt tot de grootte van een mier of kleiner. Plotseling ziet de achtertuin eruit als een andere wereld: een kever is een groot, dreigend monster en een stroompje regenwater een kolkende rivier. Ik vind dat altijd fantastisch. Het is een manier om je werkelijkheid te zien met andere ogen.

De tweede is de nieuwe trailer voor Curse of the Golden Flower, een film waar ik al eerder naar heb verwezen. De beelden zien er nog steeds heel mooi uit. Het lijkt iets minder een 'kung fu' film te zijn, maar meer grotere strijdscénes. Die zaten echter ook al in Hero, en dat was toch geen slechte film. Ik ben in elk geval benieuwd.

Voor de volgende is een waarschuwing wel op zijn plaats. De trailer voor Pan's Labyrinth is namelijk enigzins duister van aard. Dat hoort natuurlijk, want het betreft een soort sprookje, over een meisje dat in een fantastische wereld terechtkomt. De sprookjes van Grimm waren ook niet bepaald lief of vriendelijk van aard. Maar tegelijk is de vader van de hoofdpersoon generaal in fascistisch Spanje die opstandelingen uitroeit. De film schijnt vooral in dat laatste opzicht gruwelijke scenes te bevatten, dus ik weet niet of ik er heen wil, maar het fantasiegedeelte ziet er wel heel mooi en sprookjesachtig uit.

Dan iets minder serieus: Sommige films hadden heel anders kunnen uitpakken...

Wat dacht je van een thriller over een boosaardige gouvernante,Mary Poppins?

Of een combinatie tussen Mission Impossible en Ice Age?

En wat als de makers van de Matrix teveel romantische films hadden gekeken?

Tenslotte: The Ten Commandments als tienercomedie! Feesten!

The first trailer I want to point you to is the trailer for Arthur and the Invisibles. It's a childrens movie by Luc Besson (director of The Fifth Element) in which real actors and computeranimation is combined. The humor in the trailer is quite funny and the animation looks good. The protagonist shrinks to the size of an ant or smaller. Suddenly the back yard looks like another world: a beetle is a monster and a trickle is a dangerous river. I like that. It's a way to see the real world with other eyes.

The second is a new trailer to Curse of the Golden Flower, a movie I wrote about before. The images are still quite beautifull. It seems to be less of a kung fu movie, more largescale battlescenes. Those were in Hero too and that was not a bad movie at all. I'm excited.

The next one deserves a bit of a warning. The trailer for Pan's Labyrinth is a bit dark. That fits ofcourse, as it is a kind of fairytale, about a girl entering a fantastic world. The tales of the brother Grimm were not cute or friendly either. But at the same time the girls father is a general in fascistic Spain hunting revolutionaries. In that last storyline the movie is quite horrific, I've heard, so I don't know if I want to watch it. The fantasypart however looks very beautifull and like a fairytale.

Then for something completely different: some movies could have been different than they were had someone else wrote the story...

How about a thriller depicting an evil lady, Mary Poppins?

Or a combination of Mission Impossible and Ice Age?

And what if the makers of The Matrix had watched a little too many romantic movies?

Finally: The Ten Commandments made as a teen comedy! Partytime!]
