Goede films uit 2006 (Good movies from 2006)

Ja, als het januari is publiceren allerlei schrijvers hun lijstjes met de favorieten van het afgelopen seizoen. En als groot filmliefhebber lees ik graag de lijstjes van de filmrecensenten, vooral als het schrijvers zijn die een goed doordachte mening geven, en met wie ik het relatief vaak lijk eens te zijn. Vandaag vond ik een goede top 25, van Jeffrey Overstreet, die artikelen over film schrijft voor Christianity Today en wiens blog ik dagelijks volg. Deze top 25 is wat uitgebreider dan andere, omdat hij in discussie gaat met andere schrijvers en critici over wat de films die hij noemt nou zo goed maakt. En vanuit het standpunt van een christen die zoekt naar waarheidsmomenten in allerlei soorten films. Ik werd erdoor geïnspireerd. Op de eerste plaats? The New World. Die moet ik binnenkort ook maar weer eens aandachtig kijken.

And as a film lover I like to read the lists of critics, especially when they are authors that have a well thought out conviction, and I tend to agree with them fairly often. Today I found a good and enjoyable top 25, by Jeffrey Overstreet, who writes about film for Christianity Today and whose blog I read daily. This top 25 is a more extended thatn usual, because the author enters discussion with other authors and critics about the qualities of the movies and what makes them as good as they are. And all from the position of a christian seeking for moments of truth in all kinds of movies. I was inspired by it. Number one? The New World. I'll have to watch that one again someday soon.]
